When we took our trip to Disneyland, the only thing I really wanted to do for Maisy was take her to a character breakfast.
Even though we live minutes from Walt Disney World, we had never taken her to dine with characters before. After our experience at Goofy’s Kitchen inside the Disneyland Hotel, I’m sure that will be changing soon!
When you first walk into Goofy’s Kitchen, you stop at the desk to check in. Reservations are encouraged ahead of time and you can make them as early as 180 days out from your visit.
After check-in, you step up to take a photo with Goofy, or Pluto, or whichever character is currently posing for photos.
We watch a lot of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in this house—seriously, too much; most of the time, it’s essentially the soundtrack to our home—so when Maisy was able to come face-to-face with Goofy, her face was beyond priceless.
There was an interesting variety of characters who visited tables when we were there. We had everyone from Balou from “The Jungle Book” to the Mad Hatter from “Alice in Wonderland” make surprise appearances. Each character really took the time to interact with Maisy, and that made the experience so special.
Maisy was most excited to meet Chip. When he came by the table she talked to him for at least five minutes as he patiently nodded along listening. At one point she offered him part of her Mickey pancake, which he refused, and she continued to offer it until Pop Pop politely took the pancake and Chip pretended to eat it.
At that point, Maisy burped outloud, giggled, blew a kiss to Chip and said “bye bye,” essentially kicking him away from the table. Classic Maisy.
We had four adults for our meal and paid around $125 dollars for all of us, granted we used a Disney Vacation Club discount which helped make the deal so great.
Overall, we would totally go back to Goofy’s Kitchen, and the experience made us more eager to visit other character dining locations across all Disney Parks and Resorts properties.
