There are few greater joys on this earth than a good pair of yoga pants, a warm cup of tea, and an afternoon to do absolutely nothing but watch Netflix. I’ll admit, Justin and I have saved plenty of money on cable bills by shelling out the monthly fee for sweet sweet commercial-free Netflix each month. The next time you’re setting in for a long winter’s binge of your favorite sitcom, whip up a few beverages inspired by your favorite shows. Because the only thing better than a good pair of yoga pants, a warm cup of tea, and an afternoon watching Netflix is if you add a little alcohol to the mix.
Yellow Umbrellas inspired by “How I Met Your Mother” Kids, I’m going to tell you an incredible story. Celebrate Ted’s search for love and the hilarious antics of the gang with a few of these. If you’re feeling especially legendary, download my How I Met Your Mother party kit to set the scene. You will need:
- Pineapple Juice
- 1 1/2 ounces Passionfruit Vodka
I adorned mine with a bright yellow pineapple (Dammit, Trudy, what about the pineapple?) but you could also use a fun yellow umbrella. Be sure to eat plenty of food while you’re enjoying or you’ll break your streak of Vomit Free since ’93. For a super cute paper pineapple tutorial, check out this pineapple-y post on the Damask Love. Central Perk inspired by “Friends”
Have you heard the good news that every Friends episode ever is coming to Netflix in 2015? This is the perfect opportunity to embrace a delicious beverage that will have you saying “How you doin’?” You’ll need:
- 1-1/2 ounces coffee liqueur
- 4 ounces Dr. Pepper
Serve it in a coffee mug for an authentic experience. The Pit inspired by Parks and Recreation Follow the antics of Leslie Knope by toasting where it all started: The Pit in Ann’s backyard. Serve up individual glasses of this fantastic Peach sangria (adapted from this recipe on The Kitchn), garnished with a “peach pit”–a fig of course. It’ll have you singing “I fell into the pit, we fell into the pit” well into the night. You’ll need:
- 2 to 3 white peaches, sliced
- 3/4 cup peach or apricot brandy
- 1 bottle moscato wine, such as Barefoot
- 1 liter peach seltzer water, such as Seagram’s Sparkling White Peach, chilled
In a pitcher place 3/4 of the sliced peaches (saving some for garnish) and brandy and lightly muddle. Add the moscato and seltzer water. If that’s not quite up to your taste, opt to serve… The Ron Swanson also inspired by Parks and Recreation
The man. The mustache. The legend. The wise person who one said “Clear alcohols are for rich women on diets.” Celebrate this American hero with a drink in his honor, topped with a piece of beef jerky in a mustache glass.

Regina’s Poison Apple inspired by Once Upon a Time This is the perfect cocktail to help you try to sort out the characters’ crazy family tree or nurse you through yet another cliffhanger. If you’re a Disney and Fairytale fanatic, get ready to be hooked on this show and this variation on a vodka tonic. You will need:
- Apple Pucker
- Caramel Apple Vodka
- Tonic
Garnish with a sliced apple and a little green food coloring. If you’re feeling extra sassy, rim your glass with green sugar sprinkles. Remember that all magic — even the magic of a great cocktail — comes with a price. So sip responsibly. Have a show on Netflix you can’t seem to get enough of? Tell me about it – I’d love it hear it!
