Survive the summer with these beauty must-haves

Why is it that I always put the most time into my appearance during the summer months? I have so many elements to battle against to keep my beauty game strong! Sun, sweat, humidity, the sudden pop-up rain storm–the list is seemingly endless.

Today, I’m sharing some favorite products in my beauty arsenal that battle the summer elements and keep me looking so cool in this hot weather. 

For hair: I start every morning with two pumps of this Super Skinny Serum from the Paul Mitchell Smoothing collection. This product is super light-weight, and boosts shine and battle frizz all day long.

The best part? Two pumps helps your hair dry faster, so applying to wet or damp hair means less heat damage from the hair dryer and more time drinking coffee before work. Now that’s something I can get behind!

For skin: I hate to say it, but I rarely use anything besides water when I shave. Usually, it’s just me and my razor in the shower getting ready for shorts weather, but thanks to the Essential Bundle from The Honest Company, I’ve truly been more open to trying all kinds of fun, environmentally-friendly and toxin-free products and the Honest Organic Shave Oil is definitely a favorite.

This blend of natural oils gives me an incredibly smooth shave anywhere and is perfect for sensitive skin–preventing nicks, cuts, and dreaded razor burn. Plus, the oil leaves my legs feeling silky-smooth every time.

For face: I use this Feeling Beautiful Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask by Freeman twice a week during the summer. The combination of all-natural ingredients really helps remove any excess oil and dirt stuck on my face after a long, hot day–purifying my pores and leaving my face delightfully clean.

Every morning before makeup, I also apply this Daily Protective Base and Broad Spectrum SPF 15 by Clinique Redness Solutions. I am so prone to red, flushed skin when I get warm and this base keeps my cheeks from getting too rosy. The SPF protection is a must. There’s no way you should be stepping out in the summer sun without some protection from its harmful rays!

For made-up faces: I carry the Deslick Makeup Setting Spray and the Deslick Mattifying Powder, both from Urban Decay, on my person all summer long.

The setting spray will keep your makeup from melting down your neck if you’re outside sweating in the summer sun, and is great during the day for touch-ups or to refresh your face. The powder is the perfect solution to quickly cut back the shine on your face after some time outside. The power is translucent, so it will never look cakey.

For lips: I should preface this by saying it took me 25 years of my life to find a lipstick I can wear and not look like I’m playing dress up. Leave it to me to have that first fantastic lip shade be frog green. The Frog Prince lipstick by Lipstick Queen is seriously fantastic–don’t let the color fool you!

This lip shade uses some sort of princess voodoo magic, transforming the murky green color into the most perfect pink for your skin tone. This one is really a have-to-see-to-believe kind of thing, but I 100% encourage you to give it a shot!
